Profile

Innoventé produces electricity from organic wastes and residues. We call this intelligent electricity because it does not require fossil fuels, nuclear fission products, deforestation or disruption of the food chain. Founded in 2004, Innoventé is a public company (TSX-V: IGE) with headquarters in Quebec City and a US office in Cambridge, MA.

At the heart of Innoventé’s multiple technologies is a biodrying process patented in Canada and US patent pending, developed over the last 10 years in Canada. Based on a superheating microbial process, biodrying allows Innoventé to quickly and inexpensively extract water from wet residual biomass and transform them into biofuel.

Innoventé’s first commercial facility in St. Patrice de Beaurivage, near Quebec City, is under construction and will be online in September, 2012. The facility will process 55,000 tons of residual biomass and generate 4.6 MW of electricity and 10 MW of heat per year, enough to serve the needs of 8,000 residents. Innoventé will sell its electricity to Hydro-Quebec through a 25-year power purchase agreement. Heat will be sold to nearby greenhouses, wood and grain drying facilities and other buildings.

Innoventé intends to replicate this model in Canada, the US and worldwide.
